As for every year the first Saturday of May is known to many geeky fans as Free Comic Book Day. Free Comic Book Day is a day set aside for comic shops to invite individuals to come to the shop and receive some free comics with some other fandom goodies. I have been going now for two years and love the event each time. The event is to promote the comic industry sales as well as draw in new fans.
This year there were many options to chose from, you were to choose three books of your choice to receive for free. I choose the Free Comic Book Day 2016 edition Bob's Burgers comic, the Free Comic Book Day edition of Attack On Titan Anthology, and the Free Comic Book Day 2016 Summer Bast collection comic. With each year you are offered as a geeky gift your choice of a lantern ring. My first year I chose a red lantern ring due to red lanterns being my favorite amongst the DC Universe Lantern spectrum. This year though I chose the green lantern ring, my second favorite.

The first of my comics I read was of course the one I was most excited for, The Bob's Burgers issue. For those of you not aware I am obsessed with Bob's Burgers. When first scanning the material I took note that the comic feature three short stories from each of the Belcher children's perspective, additionally the issue also featured some beautiful Bob's Burger artwork.
The artwork much like that of the Bob's Burgers television show is bold lined with bright coloring that is rather eye catching. Bob's Burger Television show was created by Loren Bouchard, though within in this issue each different story were a project of their own with their own creative team. The first Short was Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction Presents: Take A Chance On Me(s) ,written by Brian Hall while the artwork was done by Frank Forte.

The Next short comic is titled Louise's Unsolved Mysteries And Curious Curiosities Presents: What Lies Beneath Bob's Burgers , written by Justin Hook and the artwork was done by Ryan Mattos. The third and final short story is titled Gene's Rhymey Rhymes That Could One Day Be Songs Presents: Full Moon Lounge Gene , written by Mike Olsen and the artwork was done by Derek Schroeder. The first comic featuring Tina Belcher. Darryl is working on a cloning machine for the science fair and ask Tina if she would like to help be his volunteer. At first Tina declines wanting to work on her talent show act to get closer to Jimmy Junior, but then hears Jimmy Junior is in need of backup dancers. This thus prompts Tina to seek out Darryl to make Clones of Tina to act as Jimmy Junior's backup dancers for the talent show. Jimmy Junior and the Tinas win the talent show, afterwards Jimmy Junior dates all the Tinas. Overall the comics has a funny outrageous plot that is every bit Tina Belcher.
The next comic Starring Louise Belcher was equally entertaining. The Belcher Children are playing ball with Zeke, Jimmy Junior, and the twins when it starts raining. The kids move to the restaurant's basement to continue their game. Jimmy Junior ends up hitting the ball into the wall busting it open to reveal a secret room. The children continue to investigate and finds what turns out to be tunnels that connect the town businesses as Mort the Mortician reveals. The writing style sticks to that of the show and is quite enjoyable of an adventure.
The final comics staring this time Gene Belcher is a bit different from the other two short, instead opting for a rhyming style writing. Gene being the more musical member of the family I found the rhyming to be a great choice; Again the writing really staying loyal to that of the television show. The Story goes that Linda and Bob Belcher at night chain Gene to his bed as to not turn into a croon at night and sing at the lounge. Of course Gene escapes the chains anyways and becomes famous singing crooner but realizes he misses his family and returns to his normal routine. I love this comic book one-hundred percent! Great addition to my collection and gives a Bob's Burger's fan much entertainment.

The second comic issue I grabbed was the Boom! Studious 2016 Summer Blast collection issue. I grab this issue due to my curiosity of Lumber Janes. Often I hear how good the series is and wanted to check it out; plus I enjoy Adventure Time, which is one of the six featured stories contained in the comic.
The first story which I was also pretty excited about is Stone Cold by Cory Godbey, which is a Jim Henson's Labyrinth short story. The art was gorgeous and the writing was on point! We are met with our adorable character who has been struck with a terrible cold and he goes on a mini quest to cure his aliment.
The next short is titled Mouse Guard: The Tale Of Piper The Listener by David Petersen. As for this story we are greeted with a Mouse writing within a journal of it's adventures to learn other animals languages and tells of the mouse's said adventure. The art can only be described as delicate, it really draws you in with the attention to detail. The writing is lovely as much as the art and was quiet an interesting story.
The third short was The Cloud written by K. I. Zachopoulos and illustrated by Vincenzo Balzano. The art is smooth and flowing almost like watercolors. While the story definitely sparked your interest it lead to many questions about what actually was going on. A young lord is seeking a wishing stone but he is being fallowed by an unknown character and his journey is finding the wishing stone.
The fourth short was an Adventure Time Comics one titled, Dirty Dungeon by Box Brown. Our heroes Finn and Jake are pursuing a magical crystal inside a dirty dungeon, but Jake has an appointment with his agent and doesn't want to late or get dirty. The art is loyal to the style of Pendleton Ward's cartoon, while the story is goofy and fun.
The fifth short included in the comic is the LUMBERJANES one; which was created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson, and Brooke Allen. This particular short is titled LUMBERJANES: Don't Axe, Don't Tale written by Jen Wang and illustrated by Christine Norrie. I adore the are style of LUMBERJANES and was one of the many reasons I wanted to check it out. The story is starts we a group of ladies and looking for different plants in the woods. Well then they set up camp and start to tell a ghost story about the old gold miners. Overall I enjoyed it and will more than likely get my hands on the trade back.
The last short within the comic is Goldie Vance written by Hope Larson and illustrated by Brittney Williams. I adore the art and thought it a bit similar to that of LUMBERJANES. Goldie Vance seems to be a young detective sort of comic. We are at a resort hotel where Goldie Vance works, her dad owns and runs the hotel. I quiet enjoy it and may pursue more issues. Overall the comic issue was great and I was more than satisfied with my choice.

The third book I picked up was a sampler of the Attack on Titan Anthology by Jeanine Schaefer, Scott Snyder, and Gail Simone. This book has different contributors and artist that took their own take on the infamous mange and anime; Attack On Titan.
I will be purchasing this book once it is released cause I loved everything about this comic, from the different art styles to the amazing unique stories. If your a fan of Attack On Titian you will love this book. Being a fan of the anime is why I picked this one up, I was actually wearing my Attack On Titan shirt that day. Even if your not a fan or have ever read the manga, watched the anime this is a wonderful comic and still can be appreciated. A five out of five of course! The book will be released September 20th of this year, so keep an vigilant eye out for it!
