Cook Korean!: A Comic Book with Recipes
by Robin Ha
Synopsis:
Picture It: You Can Master Korean Cooking Fun to look at and easy to use, this unique combination of cookbook and graphic novel is the ideal introduction to cooking Korean cuisine at home. Robin Ha’s colorful and humorous one- to three-page comics fully illustrate the steps and ingredients needed to bring more than sixty traditional (and some not-so-traditional) dishes to life.
In these playful but exact recipes, you’ll learn how to create everything from easy kimchi (mak kimchi) and soy garlic beef over rice (bulgogi dupbap) to seaweed rice rolls (gimbap) and beyond. Friendly and inviting, Cook Korean! is perfect for beginners and seasoned cooks alike who want to try their hand at this wildly popular cuisine.
When presented with the different recipes you are greeted with colorful and brightly light images that are appealing to your audience. I loved the idea of a cookbook and the art form of comics coming together in one form, as well as the regional food of choice ; Korean. I personally love Asian food and culture, find it quiet fasinating. I found the art and images to be quiet cute and well done. The recipes were easy to understand and used wonderful use of vocabulary for our targeted audience.
My one complaint about this particular cookbook is that at times the pages seemed too busy with the art and text used on the page. I give the book a 3.5 but the art of the entire book more of a 4 score.
